QMA - Memory Care Unit - All Shifts

The Memory Care Unit QMA will provide consistent high-quality care by identifying resident needs and progress, and promotion of the team approach to resident care. Provide support to Resident Care Specialist/CNAs with resident care and charting. Responsible for giving medications and for the nursing care of residents, as supervised by the community nurse. Believe in the values of customer-centered service, stewardship, ethical conduct and reflection, open communication and fair treatment
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and administer medications within the QMA scope of practice, in accordance with ISDH regulations and Greencroft policies.
- Prepare and administer PRN medications within the QMA scope of practice, in accordance with ISDH regulations and Greencroft policies, and document only upon the authorization of a licensed nurse or physician.
- Remove medication from the emergency drug supply and document only upon the authorization of a licensed nurse or physician.
- Stock medication cart and count narcotics at the beginning and end of shift and at any time the medication cart exchanges hands.
- Apply dressings within the QMA scope of practice, in accordance with ISDH regulations and Greencroft policies.
- Treatments and/or tests within the QMA scope of practice, in accordance with ISDH regulations and Greencroft policies.
- Administer oxygen in an emergency situation, with licensed nurse approval.
- Document resident’s condition, progress, incidents and complaints as well as forwarding this information to the community nurse. Check rewrites against current orders.
Position Requirements:
- Certification as a Qualified Medication Assistant in the State of Indiana required.
- Experience in a Memory Care Unit required.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent fingering, walking, sitting, talking, hearing and repetitive motions required.
- Occasional reaching, kneeling, standing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling required.
- Requires the ability to lift up to 80 pounds occasionally and up to 60 pounds frequently.
- Requires the ability to see things clearly at 20 inches or less, as is common in visual inspection or computer work.
- This position has occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials. Adherence to universal precautions is required.
- Requires the ability to lift residents to a chair with the assistant of another person and a gait belt.
Schedule:
- Every other weekend/every other holiday
- Weekend shift pay: Additional $1.00/hr
- Evening & Night Shift Pay: Additional $1.50/hr
